Family Status - Sept 9, 98

I loved you're email. I knew when I mentioned the R (retirement) word it would seem a shock. The thing I absolutely don't understand is how can anyone have "god forsaken island" and Kona, Hawaii in the same sentence page or thought. Kona, Paradise now that seems to fit better. I would love to be there and have a good off road motorcycle and spend my time riding, sea kayaking, snorkeling (without Snorkel Bob) I think it would take some time to get sick of all that. I think Susan would also like most of the same. She seems to lack the obsession with the motorcycle other than that we are a
pretty good match.

I always thought you were smarter than me but I caught on about status within the family setting much sooner.  I work with a woman named Elisa Passarali and she was shocked when I mentioned the
power structure was Susan (being pushed by Cyndi for top of the Stanley food chain power structure then Scott, at the time Brumbe, Thor, Kalua, the neighbors' dogs and finally me. She mentioned this conversation to Cyndi and Cyndi said "Ya, so what's new". When Brumbe died I though I might
move up but a stray dog walked by the house and I lost my chance. I was all set to try getting a teaching job overseas but I miss Cyndi so much that I don't think I want to go way away about the time she could be coming home.

At first I don't know if Scott liked mines but I think it is getting better. He studies his butt off and sometimes feels like he has no life. I still might consider Hawaii. Do you know are there any places
if Florida that are cool. I am doing a wrestling clinic near Orlando in November. Florida pays teachers pretty well so it could be a good place to go. Give Sharon a hug and remember you're pace in the food chain.

Love Mike
