Bragging Rights - Sept 13, '98

Just to bring Sandi up to date in case no one else has; summer is over and
Mike is back in school, bored as usual so he has resorted to sending us all
emails. When Mike wrote that he was figuring out when to retire, I
innocently responded that Sharon would prefer to stay in Phoenix with the
animals rather than move to paradise with me.

Well, thanks to all of you who wrote to try and cheer me up.

Mike wrote that he even though he is zerong in on retirement, he allowed
that I might be smarter than he is -except I've noticed that he was smart
enough to have kept his mouth shut while I courted his sister - now I'm the
one who has a occasional hair brush or butter dish bounced off his head.
Sue didn't write, I think she's still not talking to me since our last Kona
outing or silently agrees with Sharon.

Daryl wrote that he (with all his Microsoft options) challenged us all to a
race to retire to Kona. Note, they quarantine cats too, so he might not
get there so fast after all. Julie wrote that each cat lowers my (or any
male's) position in the family hierarchy not one, but several levels -
except I haven't figured out how the plate of tuna she suggested will get
 me to Kona.

Surprisingly, Sandi didn't write to rub in the retirement thing - Joe been
there and done that, but as long as Elijah is in Longmont - we don't have
to worry about them moving anywhere, let alone beating us to the big
 island.

So, just as all of this family levity was bringing me out of my funk,
Sharon played back a voice mail from the family doctor from our phone and
turned to me saying, "Did you hear that? - your VET wants you to
call.......". Honest, I'm not making any of this up. I wonder if I can
get in and out the "doggy door" if she takes the house key away from me.

Alas, what else could I do but retreat to my sanctuary, chasing the little
white ball - and that's where the bragging time comes in. Mike might be
getting older, but I am getting better - shot 74 (personal best) today,
and I was even par on the 1st nine (another personal best) - lipped out
two birdie putts on the last two holes - so it was close to an even par
 round!

 Life is good again!!!

Hope this finds you all cool and in good health.
Roger and Sharon (she'll have to write in her own defense)
