Tarifa & Marbella Photo Album

P6160845.jpg (90913 bytes) In 1292, Guzmán el Bueno defended the Castle in Tarifa from the Moors, who held and threatened to kill his son.  Refusing to surrender, Guzmán reportedly threw down his own dagger and said "Here, use this", which they did.
P6160848.jpg (82601 bytes) A more modern part of town.
P6160849.jpg (73594 bytes) Typical narrow streets, nearly empty during Siesta.
P6160852.jpg (73065 bytes) The harbor and ferries that Americans and other non-Europeans are supposedly excluded from using.
P6160859.jpg (77056 bytes) A monument to Guzmán and his sacrificed son.
P6160867.jpg (95595 bytes) Old bridge - Aerologic power generation on the hill:  Old world meets new world.
P6160873.jpg (93825 bytes) We passed this edifice as we entered the center of Marbella - it is the most notable structure we saw.  The center of town does not convey that it is a premier destination for the rich and famous.  We did walk awhile along the Paseo Marítimo beside the beach and dined on the beach.  If there, the rich and famous must be well hidden on the outskirts of the town.
P6160869.jpg (81751 bytes) A beach at Marbella - a couple of other pictures were not family rated.
