South Canyon Photo Album

P9021421.jpg (110900 bytes) Looking up at the slot that allows access to the canyon from the rim above.  It is steeper, deeper and narrower than it looks in this photo.
P9021419.jpg (125232 bytes) Parking my carcass in the shade of a large boulder, I noticed the shady side of the rock was partially covered with this dense lichen.
P9021420.jpg (131017 bytes) Up close and personal with a symbiotic community.
P9021418.jpg (98770 bytes) The protrusion is a small nearly level bench about midway down to the floor of the canyon.
P9021417.jpg (76766 bytes) A hazy shot of the rest of the canyon, it is about 5 more miles to the Colorado River.  This is an access to the river that is occasionally used by fishermen.
