Red Mountain Photo Album 2

P8051385.jpg (84425 bytes) I almost reached the cave in the center of the picture - the last 50 feet were essentially vertical - some hand/toe holds were barely visible but they are nearly eroded away.  Common sense finally prevailed - I turned back.
P8051386.jpg (108741 bytes) Another Photog arrived at the scene - I thought this shot would help provide a sense of scale.
P8051388.jpg (45014 bytes) There are a lot of reasons to think this is the Tarantula Hawk wasp, but also a couple of things to raise some doubt.  So, I am guessing at - Hemipepsis
P8051389.jpg (64582 bytes) This flower is so distinctive - I figured I would spot it in one of the books within 5 minutes - I still am looking!
P8051390.jpg (106144 bytes) Near the Sun Bowl turnoff, I spotted this field carpeted by sunflowers.  After making a left turn onto a dirt road, I noticed the riders way at the back of the field - Helianthella quinquenervis - Aspen Sunflower
