Lee's Ferry Photo Album 2

P7141295.jpg (94957 bytes) Cliffs at the mouth of Paria Canyon and Wilderness area - looking across the area of the original orchards and fields established by Lee in 1871.
P7141297.jpg (102168 bytes) The mouth of Paria  Canyon.  That chocolate syrup flowing in the channel is all the water available - very discouraging to one planning a 4 day, 38 mile (approx) hike down the Paria Canyon.  Can I carry enough filters?
P7141270.jpg (88374 bytes) The modern purpose of Lee's Ferry today is almost solely as for a launch point for fishermen going up stream and for river raft trips headed down stream.
P7141269.jpg (69641 bytes) Launching a raft trip involves a lot of waiting - I took this shot around 7:30 AM - They were still standing around and waiting to launch more than two hours later.
P7141307.jpg (94032 bytes) One of the commercial outfitters lines up his entry to the Paria Riffle.  A riffle is rough water but not rough enough to be call a rapid.  A riffle is caused by debris from a tributary such as Paria creek.
P7141310.jpg (94129 bytes) Entering the Riffle.  Paria Riffle is only about 10 minutes after launch - so the excitement begins right-away.
P7141308.jpg (101292 bytes) Finally, Baptized!  But wait until they see what lies ahead! It's too late to turn-back now.
