US 191 loops around to the south side of Round Rock and from there you can see a Window on the West side of the Rock. |

We went West on AZ 264 and then turned South on Indian Road 6. Immediately the nature of the geology changed. The monuments are covered with a greenish black Cryptobiotic crust; the eroded areas exposed red rock beneath. |

The very fragile Cryptobiotic crust contains cyanobacteria but also includes lichens, mosses, green algae, microfungi and other bacteria. |

The mounds and monuments are strikingly different from the ones to the East and North along US191. |
